Michael McKenry grew up in Knoxville, TN where he graduated as a TSSAA State Champion with baseball powerhouse Farragut High School. He went on to attend Middle Tennessee State University where he garnered All American honors and majored in Exercise Science.
He is in the Hall of Fame for both FHS & MTSU. In 2006 McKenry was drafted by the Colorado Rockies. During his MiLB journey Michael racked up multiple All Star accolades & 3 League Championships. His dream became a reality in 2010 when he made his MLB debut with the Rockies. Over the next 7 years he played at the MLB level with 3 teams: Colorado Rockies, Pittsburgh Pirates & St Louis Cardinals. He retired following his 2017 AAA National Championship season with the Durham Bulls (Tampa Bay Rays affiliate).
The past 7 seasons he has served as a MLB Analyst on the Pittsburgh Pirates pre/post game shows, as well as color commentary in the broadcast booth + in-game studio analysis. He also takes pride in being a part of the USA Baseball family. He was originally named to the USA roster for the 2009 World Cup Roster before getting pulled due to injury concerns from his affiliated club. Michael has also twice coached with USA Baseball. He first served as a coaching staff member in the PDP League, joined our developmental stuff in Houston, and also as a manager for 18U National Team Training Camp When not around the field— Michael is involved in multiple businesses, podcasts, enjoys speaking to groups, and mentoring. He can often be found in the gym crushing weights. Jesus, his wife (Jaclyn), & dog (Griffin) have his heart.
